Seoul combines the modern technology and modern buildings of one of the most technologically forward cities in the world with cool culture, an Asian flare, and of course lots of delicious food and drink. Visit Gyeongbokgung Palace

The Joseon dynasty was one of the longest lasting dynasties not just in Korea, but one of the longest lasting dynasties in all of Asia. The dynasty was first started by Yi Seong-gye just before the turn of the 15th century and made it all the way until near the turn of the 19th century before eventually being replaced by what was known as the Korean Empire. During this incredible dynasty the ruling elites constructed a series of palaces, including five palaces in Seoul. Perhaps the most impressive of these palaces is Gyeongbokgung Palace which is a beautiful palace set on water with beautiful greenery in the background. Definitely make sure to take the time to visit this palace when you’re in Seoul in 2020.

The War Memorial of Korea

One of the sad parts of Korean history is that throughout the various hundreds of years, Korea has been a part of many wars. The most obvious example for most people in modern times is the Korean civil war that resulted in the split between North Korea and South Korea. The War Memorial of Korea does an incredible job of providing the history and providing a memorial for the many lives that were lost in all of these various wars. As you would expect, a large portion of the war memorial focuses on the Korean civil war, but there is a lot that you may not expect to find in this museum such as information about Korea’s participation in the Vietnam war.

Go Shopping on Myeongdong Street

If you like to go shopping for any sort of cool things or even if you are just looking for a fun place to walk around and look at some amazing stuff, you should definitely consider taking a stroll down Myeongdong Street and looking at the various shops in the area. They have nearly everything you could imagine there including a large amount of luxury goods and brand name stores but also a lot of local shops. There is also a ton of good food in the area which you can find both in the food stalls and inside some of the places. Make sure to make this a stop on your trip to Seoul if you love to shop.

Visit Insadong Neighborhood

While people may often go to Seoul for the high technology and the hustle and bustle, one of the things you may want to do there is get a sense of what the culture is like. Insadong neighborhood is filled with Korean culture but is especially known for having a lot of the traditional Korean cultural items. For example, you can go there to have some of the Korean teas which are delicious in an old fashioned tea house or you are able to go and look at many art galleries which are filled with Korean art.

Take a Hiking Trip to Bukhansan National Park

When most people think about Korea they think about the high technology country that is constantly pushing the envelope on innovation. But the truth is that Korea is also filled with a lot of great nature and spectacular outdoor beauty. One of the great examples of this is Bukhansan National Park. Located incredible close to Seoul, technically within the boundaries of the city, you will not regret going to this beautiful place that is mountainous and also covered in a forest. There are lots of great places to walk around and hike in Bukhansan National Park but if you are looking for just one specific one you can go to the highest peak in the entire park, which is called Baegundae Peak.
