Walk around Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden


One of the cool things about Tokyo is that although there are places that are filled with skyscrapers, industry, and technology, there are also a lot of green areas. One of the most beautiful green areas in the city in the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. This garden is an artifact of the Edo era, when one of the daimyo, a lord named Naito, decided to create the garden for his private palace. The garden is considered to be one of the most beautiful and well preserved in Japan and it has been a huge attraction since it was opened to the public after the end of World War Two. There are rose gardens, all types of trees, and pretty much anything you could imagine in the garden. It blends multiple different styles of garden and is definitely worth a visit for anyone who wants to see the traditional garden styles or just anyone who wants a nice relaxing stroll in Tokyo.

Get a Drink in an Izakaya in Shinjuku or Shibuya


Japan is one of the most fun places to eat food and get drinks but it can be a very hard place for a foreigner to find their way around. A lot of the best places to eat and drink in Japan can be hidden inside what otherwise look like quiet buildings or down an alley that you would not expect with some food and bars which open up on the side in surprising ways. If you are looking for a good place to visit one of these bars or restaurants and you are confident in finding your way around two neighborhoods for you to check out are Shinjuku and Shibuya. Shinjuku and Shibuya both have lots of cool izakaya to visit so if you are able to find them it will be quite the treat.

Visit Sensoji Temple


In Tokyo one thing you may certainly want to do is visit some of the temples and take in some of the culture of the city. There is a ton of modern stuff going on but Tokyo also has a lot of culture. High up on the culture list is Sensoji Temple which is the oldest temple in all of Tokyo. You can find this temple if you go to visit the Asakusa district. The Asakusa district is a very fun place to be in and of itself, so you will likely enjoy strolling around here.

Visit the Tsukiji Fish Market


The Tsukiji fish market has long been one of the biggest attractions in Tokyo for a number of reasons but perhaps principal among them was the famous Tuna action that took place here. You can come from anywhere and watch the fisherman auction off the massive tuna to a group of silent auction attendees who bid using what appears to be sign language. Since 2018 just part of the market remains as a lot has moved over to a new location. If you are still interested in checking out the famous tuna actions that used to take place in the Tsukiji fish market, you should now go to the Toyosu market. The Toyosu market has the tuna auctions and all of the silent bidding.

Eat Fish at a Restaurant in Ginza


Near to the Tsukiji fish market is one of the most famous districts in Tokyo, Ginza. Ginza is known for a number of things but among them for having some of the best bars and restaurants in the city. Tokyo has some of the most Michelin star restaurants of any city in the entire world and quite a number of them can be found in Ginza. It should be of no surprise that some of the best food to get here is the sushi and the fish. Do some research and treat yourself to a great meal here.
